The Wood Buffalo Youth Song Project

June 20th, 2011

In March 2011, Thom Swift and Keith Mullins visited ten schools in ten days in Northern Alberta.  Each morning they worked with a small group of students to create a song from scratch.  The songs explore themes of love, family, strength, community and heritage. The student’s voices were recorded, followed by the songwriters’ voices and instruments. Each song was written, performed, and recorded in one day.  This is The Wood Buffalo Youth Song Project.  The purchase of this recording will assist school programs and youth support initiatives.

Thom nominated for three 2011 East Coast Music Awards

January 20th, 2011

The East Coast Music Association just announced nominations for East Coast Music Week (April 13-17) in Charlottetown, PE.  Thom was nominated in three categories, including FACTOR Recording of the Year, Male Solo Recording of the Year and Blues Recording of Year.  He will be performing at the event.  For details on the event, visit: http://www.ecma.ca/

From its opening track “Stand Tall”, Thom Swift’s second solo CD blue sky day is full of life lessons, from a naturally gifted musician and songwriter with a lifetime of experience to draw upon; lessons about how to live, how to love, and how to have a good time, taught with agile fingers on beloved vintage guitars and a voice as richly textured as the bark on a spruce tree.
